Our fully stocked in-house pharmacy reflects our commitment to your pet's health. Ensuring your pet receives the accurate dosage and administration of prescription medications is of the utmost importance. Since we are your pet's prescribing veterinarian, you can trust that when you fill prescriptions at our pharmacy, your pet will receive the right medication, at the right dose, in the right form as quickly as possible. We will discuss any potential side effects or interactions with other drugs your pet may be using and provide detailed instructions on the medication's use. We can even administer the first dose for you, if possible. All our medications are properly stored and have been obtained from safe, reliable sources.
***When shopping for pet medications outside of your veterinarian's office, it is important to keep in mind that a majority of manufacturers sell exclusively to licensed veterinarians, where a direct veterinary-client-patient relationship exists. This approach helps ensure your pet receives the best possible care. This being said, there is a major counterfeit market for animal health products. We encourage you to learn more about the issue by accessing the FDA website

These illegal online pharmacies may sell medicines that are counterfeit, outdated, mislabeled, or incorrectly formulated. The medicines may not contain the actual drug or may contain incorrect amounts of drug. Some may not work as well if the product is old (expired) or has been stored in conditions that were too hot, cold, or humid. Others may not have the proper directions for use. If you are unhappy with the products you ordered, you may not be able to get your money back from an illegal online pharmacy.

Health Certificates for Travel
We provide Interstate and International health certificates. We ask that you investigate your destination's requirements prior to your appointment. Many countries require Rabies titer testing and/or microchipping. We are able to provide these services for your pet.
Because each destination country, and even different states, have different requirements for your pet's entry, you are responsible for supplying the list of requirements that need to be met for traveling (usually these are core vaccines and proof of recent veterinary inspection); we can only accommodate the guidelines you provide. Heartland Animal Hospital cannot assume responsibility for ensuring all the requirements are met for your situation and cannot be held responsible for quarantine, denial of entry, or costs incurred due to unfulfilled requirements for your pet. You can find a list of pet-friendly hotels at www.petswelcome.com.
The team at Heartland Animal Hospital understands the passing of a beloved pet is the loss of a member of your family. We are happy to offer at home euthanasia to our regular clients, in addition to services here at the clinic. To help ease the burden of saying goodbye and the confusion of knowing what to do after a pet has died, we offer cremation services to our clients. Please do not hesitate to consult a member of our staff if you have any questions; the entire team at our hospital will do everything possible to assist you and your family with the utmost compassion during these difficult times.
We moved to Ashland late in 2000 and began using Heartland Animal Hospital in the spring of 2001. Dr. Cuddihee and her staff took the records of our pets from previous veterinarian’s office and used those to start providing treatment to our pets and building their own records. Fifteen years later, we are still sold on the services our pets receive. Dr. Cuddihee and her staff have celebrated our new pets with us and have been caring and empathetic when we’ve had to say goodbye to some very old friends. While it is difficult to talk about euthanasia of very special animal family members, it is important to me to say that the staff at Heartland have kept some of our pets happy and healthy longer than the breed books say they should live. They have been kind, respectful and caring of both of both the pet and us when the time has come to humanely euthanize the animal. Our dogs look forward to going to the vet’s office in Ashland (and know where the treats are). Our cats are tolerant of trips to the vet and rarely get their claws out (a four star review from a cat, believe me). Finally, I would like to make two points. Dr. Cuddihee will give you every option and scenario for treatment available (and the cost associated with it) but she allows you to make the decision of how to proceed. Second, I recently discovered the price of specialized dog food is less at her office than it is at the farm store in Columbia. So if you want great care and service, and reasonably priced pet products, go to Heartland.
